Manny Acta recognize by Pelotero Estrella
Santo Domingo, DN.- Johan Camargo, (hitter), and pitcher Roenis Elías were chosen as the best players of the week that ended on Sunday, November 20, in the fifth edition of Pelotero Estrella de la Semana, by Producciones Apolo, where Manny Acta was honored.
The production, led by Américo Celado for Andrés Van Der Horst, with the compilation by Julio Andrés López, honored the Seattle Mariners coach and multi-time champion in Dominican winter baseball, Acta.
Acta’s achievements in professional baseball, both on and off the field, as well as his dedication and commitment to improving the lives of underprivileged children, especially in his hometown of Consuelo, San Pedro de Macorís province, validate this distinction.
Acta, a former MLB manager with Washington and Cleveland, and current bench coach for the Seattle Mariners, is considered a special strategist, known for his good character and concern for the youth.
“I accepted this recognition when I was informed because I believe that honors should be given during one’s lifetime. Keep that in mind, everyone appreciates having their work, history, and legacy recognized, and for that, I am thankful for this distinction,” said Acta upon receiving the award from Andrés Van Der Horst.
Van Der Horst thanked Manny Acta for his presence, praised the Major League qualities of the native of Consuelo, and expressed admiration for his altruism and Dominican pride.
Also present at the event was Pedro Guerrero, the first Dominican World Series MVP, as well as former president of the Dominican Baseball League, Dr. Leonardo Matos Berrido.
